Jonxion

4905 Lapinière, Brossard, Quebec, Canada
Offices of 117,918 ft2

Situated at the junction of Highways 10 and 30, this building was named after its location: Jonxion. It was certified LEED NC Silver and won a Honorable Mention at the 2013 ASHRAE Technology Awards. The innovative measures implemented in the design of the mechanical systems helped realizing a building with HVAC construction costs much lower than it would have been in a conventional building project.

Energy Efficiency Measures

Geothermal heating cooling

Enthalpy wheel in fresh air handling unit for heat recovery

Optimization of chilled water production

Implementation of control sequences

In addition to these measures, the design of the building envelope and landscape have been improved, and a renewable source of energy, geothermal wells, has been implemented.

Project Benefits

In addition to lowered construction costs, the project saves 50% on the building’s yearly energy bills, and prevents approximately 37,7 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent from being released into the atmosphere every year. Today the building has an impressive energy consumption of only 9.7 kWh/ft2/year. The project payback was immediate, since the HVCA construction costs were similar to a standard building.
